New York Artist Showing CAPE MAY — An exhibition of 22 paintings by Mar cia de Triomphe, an artist who has shown her work widely in Manhattan galleries, opened last Saturday at the Cape May * County Art League. 1050 Washington St., and will continue for a month. An admirer of artists such as Vermeer. Cezanne. Velasquez, and Andrea del Sarto, de Triomphe specializes in still lifes and outdoor scenes. Describing herself as "a representational artist with expressionist overtones." she has a par ticular flair for painting vegetables which permit her to use her skill as a colorist. "1 LIKE TO emphasize the beauty I see in life," de Triomphe said. "It's in my paintings 1 have a zest for life." A former actress and dancer, de Triomphe said she tries to counter a trend toward ungliness in painting today "I want to touch people who look at my work in a positive way," she said. A graduate of Columbia University with a degree in art history, de Triomphe attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School. It is her first exhibit in Cape May. "I was attracted to the Art League because it is humanistic and conducive to my philosophy of painting," she said.
