Community Aids Fire Victims

COLD SPRING - Family and friends buried Morgan W. Luzny, 5, and his brother, Clinton G., 4, at Cold. Spring Cemetery on Thursday. They were victims of an April 4 fire that destroyed their three-story frame home off Route 109, Cold Spring, and hospitalized their father. Robert, 31, a carpenter, with severe burns. He had tried to rescue the boys. Besides their father, the boys are survived by their mom, Linda, also injured in the blaze, and a brother, Robert S.. who wasn't at home when it broke out. While the family's wounds will take too long to heal, the community is trying hard to ease the pain and financial burden. Cold Spring "Old Brick" Presbyterian Church trustees donated burial plots for the children because their mother preferred them there. "The other cemeteries were probably just as willing," an "Old Brick" trustee reflected. The Church of the Nazarene, Erma, offered and the family accepted a post-burial meal. But Stella Maris Knights of Columbus post had also offered its Erma hall. Other donors prefer to remain anonymous; none asked for recognition. "Let's all kick in and salvage what we can for this family." Lower Township Mayor Robert Fothergill urged residents last week, asking them to contribute food, clothing and money, "mainly money," to Robert and Linda Luzny c/o.4be township Recreation Center behind Municipal Hall, 2600 Bayshore Rd., Villas. That effort is "really coming very well," Steve Sorrels, assistant superintendent of Parks and Recreation, confirmed Friday Money, he said should be deposited at First Jersey National Bank South. Bayshore Road. North Cape May, with checks made out to Linda Luzny c/o the Lower Township Recreation Department. Society Meets SOUTH DENNIS - The Dennis Township Historical Society will meet 7:30 tonight in the Ludlam School on Route 47.

Other organizations and businesses are planning fund raisers for the family, he added, but he wasn't definite about details, suggesting calls to the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, Erma; Pirate's Den tavern-restaurant. K-Mart, Rio Grande; and the U.S. Coast Guard base. Cape May.
