Family Film, Fuii Day at Wetlands

STONE HARBOR - The coming of spring has brought back the laughing gulls, the osprey. and the herons and egrets, along with the anticipation of summer In order to get people badfawpto the spirit of nature and the outdoors, the Wetlands Institute is planning a Family Film and Fun Day 10 to 4:30 Saturday. The all-day Saturday event will feature con tinuous nature films shown in the Marsh View Lecture Hall Included will be "America's Wetlands", a film about wetlands throughout the United States, and "Portrait of a Coast", an intriguing look at coastal changes through the seasons. GUIDED MARSII walks led by specially trained docents will leave every hour and follow the trail * through the marsh adjacent the institute. Although the marsh plants will still be mostly brown, the marsh wildlife will be awakening from its winter sleep, and the bird life is already teaming. The Wetlandia museum is being renovated to include a raptor exhibit. Guests will be able to witness the progress of this special display which will house preserv ed specimens of local hawks and owls. MICROSCOPES will be set up with local flora and fauna for close-up inspection, and an indoor scavenger hunt in the museum will be available for all ages.
