Seniors to Go Out for Lunch

ATLANTIC CITY - The First Jersey National Bank has announced that scholarship grants are now available from the Elmer Smith Scholarship Trust. The funds available are to be used for the higher education of deserving residents of Avalon, Dennis Township, Upper Township and Sea Isle City who are in need of financial assistance. A scholarship committee has been established in accordance with the terms of Smith's will to evaluate the applications of those students seeking scholarships. ACCORDING to the terms of his will, the committee will give preference to students in an engineering or medical program and to students who will attend the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Rutgers at New Brunswick, Stevens Institute of Technology or I Princeton University Applications will also be accepted from students Volunteers For Phones Are Sought NORTH WILDWOOD - Volunteers are being sought for the important job of selling the city. The city's Tourism Commission needs help to respond to prospective vacationers asking for information on the resort, says Mayor Lewis G. Vinci. Vinci is appealing to residents, particulary senior citizens, who have time — as little as an hour at a time — to answer telephone inquiries through the Tourism Commission's "800" toll-free number. NEEDED ARE people with good speaking voices. People making inquiries receive the city's vacation packet, and the names are then turned over to the Wildwood agencies which handle island-wide mailing. The volunteers are needed at the commission s office at Seventh and New Jersey Avenues and at the information center at Historic Hereford Inlet Lighthouse.
