There was much success on the diamond last week on local baseball and soft ball teams chalked up wins On the hardball field. Middle Township started off the week with a 4-4 tie with Buena The Panthers fought back from a 4-1 deficit in the sixth inning. The seventh inning featured RBI singles by Middle's Bob Hicks and Mike Donovan for a three run rally that knotted the score. Pitcher Donovan allowed eight hits and three walks while striking out five. Sean Smith sparked Middle in the first and sixth innings with two hits while Bob Hicks and Mark Hindle connected for two apiece LOWER CAPE MAY defeated Hammonton ll-6. The Capers poked 14 hits including two homers by Mark Reney and Frank DiGillio. each knocking in two runs. Reney went three for four at the plate with two doubles and five RBIs. The Blue Cross-Blue Shield Insurance Co. and the New Jersey Division on Aging are sponsoring this event, which includes 10 events. These are: Basketball Shooting, One-mile run. Three-mile run. Three-mile bike race. One-mile walk. Softball throw. Bowling. Golf (driving accuracy). Table tennis, and Tennis ANYONE 55 years or older can enter. There are three age divisions. 55-64. 65-74 and 75 plus, with a winner named in each division. Every entrant will receive a certificate and a T-shirt.
