| Six Victorian Inns Featured on Tours

CAPE MAY - Six VicI torian seaside bed and I breakfast inns will offer a | special tour of their vintage I homes to celebrate TulipI time here. Amid the setting of color - I ful tulip and springtime I flower gardens, the tour I will provide a fascinating I study of Victorian architecI ture and house interiors. Tours of the authentically restored inns were scheduled 1-3 p.m. today, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Special exhibits and collections at each inn will highlight the tour featuring spring floral themes. The innkeepers will guide visitors through the history of their homes, the restora- [ tions of their bed and breakfast inns and special features of each. TOURS RUN 1-2 p.m. at Captain Mey's Inn (202 Ocean St.), The Summer Cottage Inn (613 Columbia Ave ), Windward House (24 Jackson St.) and continue 2-3 p.m. at Alexander's Inn (653 Washington St.), The Brass Bed Inn (719 Columbia Ave.), and The Victorian Rose (715 Columbia Aye.)

The Dutch heritage is evident at Captain Mey's with an extensive "Delft Blue" china collection over 100 years old. Also featured are intricate wood figurines carved by the natives of the Dutch East Indies. At The Summer Cottage Inn collections abound throughout the inn — from antique butter pats to Eastlake furnishings. Crazy quilts, linens and laces are featured along with springtime bouquets found in unique settings. SPRINGTIME fashions are on display at the Windward House. From the . tightly corseted Victorian gown to the loosely fitted chemise of the early 1900's, followed by the glamour gowns of the 1930's and tailored World War II styles. Unusual arrangements of tulips and pastel flowers in antique baskets and vases add country touches to the formal Victorian rooms at Alexander's Inn. Their very busy commercial kitchen is also included in the tour. At the Brass Bed Inn an annual display of water-

colors, pen and ink drawings, photography and original cross stitch creations will be featured. These along with crafts from local artists, will depict Victorian houses and scenes of Cape May THE VICTORIAN Rose will display an elegant ladies' Victorian tea for 12 featuring an antique teacup collection in floral themes in the surroundings of the restored dining room. Tickets are availble at any of the six inns for the entire tour. Group tours of 10 or more may be arranged for these dates or for private tours.
