II A P P Y A N N I V E R - 1 SAR V to Emily and Eugene" Dempsey of the Family Tree Flea Market on Sunset Blvd in Cape May. It's their 29th. Congratulations also go lo Nancy and Mike Tronco. They celebrated 59 years of marriage with a celebration given them by their children Here's a delicious tomato salad which you can make in a jiffy: Peel and slice two fine tomatoes, put them into a salad bowl and add lots of grated Parmesan cheese, a tablespoonful of oil. two tablespoons of dry white wine and then salt and pepper. Toss and serve. This salad was served at the turn of the century at the Astor House, New York's first \great hotel Be sure to peel the tomatoes — it makes all the difference — and I add garlic salt The interesting speaker at the Victorian Towers recently was Ms. Terri Scott, who recently appeared on the Phil Donahue
Show. Ms. Scott spoke to the seniors about family abuse. She is arranging to open an office here in Cape May. IT WAS THE grandest party to be held in Cape May: the Mad Batter Restaurant celebration marking its 10th anniversary. The invitation said "scrumptious food and refreshing libations" and it surely was that, and even more! Here are just a few of the tasty morsels: Blackbeard's Yardbird (roasted duckling in wildflower honey); Cajun Minstrel, (crabmeat and Tasso ham in a fried and spiced eggplant boat). La Sole du Soleil (sole filets wrapped with lobster mousse): Dancing Devil Shrimp, (shrimp stir-fried in five spices with pecans and candied kumquats). Small Planet Brochette (grilled skewers of tamari-ginger-orange marinated tofu and baby vegetables) ; Clams Atlantic City and Fleet- and Fawn Street Pastas. AMONG THE eight desserts offered were Kingsize strawberries (larger than an egg) dipped in delicious chocolate. All good wishes go to the gracious hosts. Harry. Vickie and Mark and of course, plaudits to Executive Chef John Brock. Chef Winonah Wengert. Pastry Chef Susan Wiener.
