Bike-A-Thon to Be St. Jude's Benefit
RIO GRANDE - The Cape May County Airport will be the scene of a five mile Bike-A-Thon to benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Saturday. Freeholder Herbert ,C. Frederick, in charge of the airport, assisted in getting approval for the charity event. Details for the Bike-A-Thon were arranged by the area Bike-A-Thon committee and the county Department of Economic Development Michelle Wilikinson. of Villas, is the 1986 Bike-A-Thon chairman In requesting use of the airport. ■ Ms. Wilkinson said the airI port grounds offered a safe I route for the Bike-A-Thon I which would include I youngsters, keeping the I participants off main I streets and out of highway I traffic. THE EVENT will offer I prizes for top riders, and is I intended to raise funds for the hospital's fight against childhood cancer. Riders collected $25 or morerfor
the hospital will receive a T-shirt and riders collecting over $75 will also receive a tote bag. Youngsters participating in the Bike-A-Thon will seek sponsors who contribute to the Hospital. They will ride bicycles a number of miles based on the amounLs contributed by their sponsors. Bike-A-Thon participants can pick up their sponsor forms at church, school or participating stores. They capalso arrange to pick up Forms by calling Ms. Wilkinson at 886-1445 or 886-1161. The event is open to everyone, but anyone under 18 must have approval of parent or guardian to participate.
