Variety of Tours Offered for May

CAPE MAY - Trolley. Walking, and House Museum Tours will be featured throughout May in the nation's oldest seashore resort. To help acquaint visitors with its Victorian gingerbread architecture, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) will sponsor: Trolley tours of the National Landmark District begin at Ocean Street, opposite the Washington Street Mall. MAC will offer two distinct tours: THE HISTORIC East End Tour includes the historic Physick Estate, two Victorian Hotels, the Chalfonte and the Colonial picturesque Columbia Avenue, busy Ocean Street, and tree-lined Hughes Street, the oldest residep-^ tial street in the city. East End Tour will depart on the following schedule: Saturdays and Sundays. 10:30 a.m.. noon, and 1:45 p.m.; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 10:30 a.m. and noon. The West End Tour includes stately Congress Hall, the graceful Huntington House, the famous Pink House, quaint Congress Place, unique Perry Street, and the aligned porches of Decatur Street The tour will depart on the following schedule: Saturdays. 11:15 a.m., "1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m : Sunday, ll:15a.m. and 1 p.m ; Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays. 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. WALKING TOURS of the National Landmark District are especially designed for those who like history close-up and in detail. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides lead visitors on a comfortable stroll down many of the 'historic streets. Spiced with historical insights into the customs and traditions of the Victorians and their ornate, delightful architecture, these tours provide an intimate insight into Cape May's intriguing past, present, and future Tours begin at the Information Booth at the head of the Washington Street Mall (at Ocean Street* on the following schedule: Saturdays. U a.m.; Sundays. 11 a.m TOURS OF the EmlenPhysick Estate. 1048 Washington St.. features - the 16-room house designed by renowned architect Frank Furness. Built in 1879 in the Stick Style, it is

an authentically restored Victorian House Museum. These tours run on the following schedule: Saturdays: every 45 minutes 10:30 a.m. -2:15 p.m. (last tour leaves': Sundays: every 45 minutes 10:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. (last tour leaves) ; Tuesdays and Thursdays: every 45 minutes 10:30 a.m. -12:45 - p.m. (last tour leaves). TROLLEY SHUTTLE to the Physick Estate, a service for senior citizens and others needing transportation. on Tuesdays and Thursdays run round trips between Ocean Street (opposite the Washington Street Mall) and the Physick Estate. This shuttle service is .free of charge to persons / purchasing Physick Estate Tour tickets, and runs on the following schedule: Tuesdays. 10:15 a.m.. 11 a.m.. 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 10:15 a.m.. 11 a.m.. 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The spring festival will extend from 6th Street to llth Street on Asbury Avenue with the area barricaded for pedestrian traffic. Among the features are a new car show, antique auto show, ethnic foods festival, sidewalk sale by local mer/chants, free pony rides for / children and the crafts fair, f LOCAL NON-PROFIT or ganizations will present informational booths. These include the Humane Society. Siberian Husky Society of the Jersey Shore, Coast Guard Auxiliary. Ocean City Historical Museum, Sunshine Foundation and Ocean City Art Center, which will sell cookies to benefit its . building fund. Bands, sidewalk performers, the South Jersey School of Baton and Dance, and "The Young Entertainers" will perform along the route.
