Upper Names New Head for Schools
UPPER TOWNSHIP - Richard Stepura, Tuckerton. has been selected as superintendent of the Upper Township Schools by the board of education at its meeting April 22. Stepura is chief school administrator of the Port Republic City School District, a post he has held for six years. He will succeed John D. McGovern. who resigned his position to accept a similar position with the Haddon Township School. John Phillips assumed the responsibilities of the superintendent in early April and will continue to serve until Stepura com mences work here July 1. PHILLIPS HAS been the administrator of communi ty education for several ., years. Slepura's career in education has included two years as a teacher in Springfield Township; one year as chief school administrator of Califon School District in Hunter don County; and assistant principal for five years at | Little Egg Harbor J Township School.
He received his Bachelor's degree from Newark State College, his Master's at King College of New Jersey and is completing his dissertation for a doctoral degree from Rutgers University. His wife Janet is a teacher at Egg Harbor Township School and their 12-year-old son attends Pinelands Regional School.

Eugene Chojnacki was re-elected: Don Delia Porta, a former board member, and Dr. Edward Kozakowski. a Marmora physician, were — elected recently. Dr. Nancy May and Elaine Ostrander had declined to seek re-election to the ninemember board. Thomas H Griffin. Jr. and Dorothy Armand were . elected to continue as president and vice president respectively.
