I Bill Gets New Form

NEWARK — New Jersey Bell customers in South Jersey will return the first > page of. the bill with their payment, instead of a computer card, beginning in May. About 99 percent of NewJersey Bell's three million customers return the computer card with their payment each month. To encourage all customers to return the new bill payment page, the companysent fnserts to its customers this month telling about the change. THE USE OF a payment page instead of a computer card is one of several changes New Jersey Bell is making at its Cranford Accounting Center where customer bills are processed. New computerized equipment that quickly reads a

series of numbers assigned i to an individual's account, and electronic inserting machines are expected to make the billing operation more efficient, and make more space available in the bill envelopes for informative and promotional inserts. The change to a bill payment page will be complete in early June in South Jersey. The change will be complete in North Jersey by early July.
