When he was 13 years old he entered Seton Hall's I Divinity School in South Orange. Not coming from an affluent family, he worked at several jobs, including I doorman at Radio City Music Hall. : In 1947 he was accepted into Immaculate Conception I Seminary in Darlington. Two years later his father | died. Already his mother I was quite ill and he left the | seminary' to take care of her I and provide for her financial < HE THOUGHT his leave I from the seminary would be < just temporary and that he < would be able to go back in) I a couple of yeirs. Those years stretched in- 1 to 21.
