Gorman to Wield Stick for Salukis

OCEAN CITY - Klaudia Gorman, the first four-year starter in field hockey at Ocean City High School, will be carrying a big stick for Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, 111., this fall Gorman has signed a letter of intent to play for the Salukis after an outstanding career for the Red Raiders. As a junior, she scored 21 goals and had IS assists from the left wing position, and contributed if goals and 28 assists her senior year from the right inner position. GORMAN HAS competed in the Garden State Games for two years and is a member of the New Jersey Tour Team which will compete in Europe this summer.

Active in student council and extracurricular activities, Gorman is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She Turned down scholarship offers from Iowa. Syracuse, Ohio, and Toledo to attend SIU. "Klaudia has a hard drive coming across from her wing position," said Julee Illner, field hockey coach for the Salukis. "She's a good scorer from the wing position and is a hard worker who is committed to improving herself. Her quickness, speed, and good game sense are also major assets."

N.J. Offers 2 Fishing Days Free TRENTON - The state Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife has announced that legislation has been passed to permit two free fishing days each year. During these days, anglers can go to any lake, stream, or pond in the state and try their luck without buying a fishing license or trout stamp. The first of these days will be Saturday, May 24.
