After 60 Years, A Singing Comeback
STONE HARBOR. - Bonney Taylor is making an entertainment comeback after 60 years. Taylor. 69. a cashier at Henny's Restaurant, performed at age 7 in vaudeville on the Keith Circuit in New Orleans. Her career, however, was cut short two years later by the passage of the child labor laws. Now she's back, singing professionally for the first time in her life. ON APRIL 6. she joined the "Three Cheers" at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City and last Saturday at the Ocean City Spring Fest "Three Cheers" has a big band sound, she said. "I've always had a fantasy about sineing with a big band." Taylor said. She and the band have Rummage Sale COLD SPRING - Cape May Chapter 156, Order of the Eastern Star, will have a "ritzy" rummage sale 10 to 4 Monday, May 8. 9 and 10 at the Masonic Temple, Seashore Road. Call 884-3302 •for information. Day Voted For Clean Water AVALON - By resolution of the borough council. July 19 has been proclaimed "1986 Clean Water Day" here. The resolution refers to the importance of the beachfront in promoting tourism and attracting visitors, and to the effect of the day's observance in encouraging environmental protection measures. Observance of Clean Water Day, which was established in 1983. is spon sored by the N.J. Environmental Federation.

"I never got paid before. I'VE BEEN SINGING since I was three, but not professionally, just always singing." Taylor, a year-round resident of Stone Harbor for seven years, sang every night last summer with the "Three Cheers" at Henny's. She also joined them for the Ocean City Oktoberfest and the Cancer Benefit held at the Gables in Somers Point. This year, she will once again be singing, nonprofessional^. with them. "I work as cashier until 10 or U (p.m.) and then go out and sing about two sets with them," she said. TAYLOR IS a baritone who describes herself as "a belter." Her favorite songs, she said, are the "oldies but goodies" — blues, jazz, ballads and show tunes. She usually brings down the house when she sings "a Good Man is Hard to Find." Is she looking for more big band gigs'* "Well, whatever," she said. "Al my age I wait to see if my voice will hold out. "But it's strange." she added. "When you get that microphone in your hand, the ham in your soul just seems to come out."
