Greetings from the Sea and Sand Vacationland, Sea Isle City. Today is a big day for the 5th Grade children of both Sea Isle Public School and St/ttoseph's Regional. The VFW Post is sending the students of both schools to visit the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. The veterans are paying all expenses. including transportation and lunch. Eighth Grade students in Sea Isle Public School had their local Government Day last week. Each student was assigned an official to interview. Among those interviewed were city commissioners, department heads, chief of police, members of planning x>ard, zoning board and ichool board. 1 THE STUDENTS Reported back to the class, the results of their interviews regarding job requirements, responsibilities. agency services and functions. The day culminated in a mock commission meeting with Tom McQuillen acting as mayor and Tara Goffredi and Todd Szolosi as commissioners. Too bad "Mayor" McQuillen could not perform one of the more pleasant duties of the office. The "Marrying Mayor" of Sea Isle, Mike Mcllale. was at it again last Saturday. He officiated at the wedding of Patricia Warning and George Quhtn. The groom is the brother of Town Solicitor Dennis Quinn. The ceremony took place on the promenade, overlooking the ocean Sounds romantic, huh? THIS IS THE time of year when we all start out on the banquet circuit. Catholic* Daughters will have their annual dinner tomorrow at Mildred's in Strathmere The Knights of Columbus Annual Family Communion Breakfast will be 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass will be at St. Joseph's and breakfast at Canity's. SHIRLEY BURN'S and Sally Woodruff of the environmental commission are staging a post contest for the 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade pupils of the city's schools The posters are to warn motorists of turtle crossings Judging will be tomor row and prizes will be contributed by Democratic and Republican clubs and Sea Isle Townsends Inlet Committee Winners will be announced in a later column.

My wife and I took one of our occasional trips to New York last week for a dinner and show. AFTER EATING, my wife browsed in a bookstore while I stood on the corner of Broadway and Times Square and engaged in my favorite activity, people watching. My observations were: (A.) There are a h—uva lot of people in NYC and they come in all shapes and sizes; (B.) N,Y. drivers (especially in taxis) are CRAZY; (C.) Rising young male executives come equipped with charcoal gray suits, briefcases and a Walkman on their head; ( D. ) The uniform for young ladies is looong skirts, worn with blouses, sweaters or as part of a suit, with ankle socks and sneakers or tennis shoes, carrying a plastic or canvas bag (with their shoes, I guess); and finally, (E.) Almost all women look several years younger than their male escorts. What is your secret. Girls? By the way, the show was Sweet Charibf and Debbie Allen is just "great — worth the price of admission. Finally, after reading Greg Lawson's column in the Herald, listing our family and their ages, one of my daughters commented, "I guess our weights will be in next week" So - 105, 111, 116... Don't forget Town Meeting 7:30 p.m. Monday. May 19, in Public Safety building. See everybody there. Nominees For Youth Award WASHINGTON.
