Bay Avenue, has announced that the threatre had been awarded a special development grant by the N.J State Council on the Arts. The grant award will be used by the theatre to add a 'marketing/public relations director to the full-time staff. SJRT will be entering its 10th season next October and has a subscription audience that now encompasses all eight southern New Jersey counties

Researcher To Explain Her Work STONE HARBOR - "What's an Anthropologist Doing on the Docks of Cape May?" is the title of the Wetlands Institute's lecture 8: 15 p.m. Saturday Carolyn Creed. anthropologist and Sea Grant Fellow working on the House Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries in Washington, DC spent last summer doing research in Cape May and was based at the Institute. Her lecture will be based on her research, a three-year study in which she questions New Jersey commercial fishermen on their job satisfaction, their likes, dislikes and other non-money related matters. "I AM A SOFT scientist. I work with people rather than staring into a microscope," Creed says. Creed has found that baymen, scallopers, and clammers remain in their occupation even when times are hard and money is low. She wants to find out why. She will describe what an anthropologist is and why her work is important to the economy of N.J. fisheries. Slides of various types of fishing vessels wUl accompany her lecture, which will be followed by a question and answer period.
