' Flower Concert ' in Avalon
AVALON - "Flowers in Concert" is the theme for the Avalon Garden Club's 1986 flower show, 1-6 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in Avalon's Community Hall, 30th Street and the beach. Included in the Artistic Section are such classes as Jazz — an arrangement using brilliant colors; and. Duet — an arrangement using two containers. House plants, roses, perennials and herb6 will be on display.
JUDGING THE individual entries will be; Mrs. Juanita Boardman, master judge, with homes in Ocean City and Rosemont, Pa.; Mrs. Elizabeth Young of Ocean City and Mrs. Emily Aprill, proprietor of The Cooperage at Learning's Run, Swainton. Bonnie and Peter Atkinson, owners of the Avalon Flower and Garden Shop, Route 9, Swainton, are planning an entrance garden for all to enjoy.
Workshop Topic To Be Quick Quilt
CAPE MAY - A new feature for the city's annual Quilt and Decoy Show and Sale will be a Log Cabin Quick Quilt Workshop. Scheduled for Saturday, it will be held 10 a.m. -4 p.m. at the Cape Island Baptist Church, Columbia and Gurney Avenues. Sponsored by the MidAtlantic Center for the Gateway To Present Musical SOMERS POINT - The South Jersey Regional Theatre will present "110 in the Shade", by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, at the Gateway Playhouse here June 3-15. The musical version of "The Rainmaker" is by the same team that authored "The Fantastiks". The musical will be pre-^-sented 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. For further information, call 653-0553. Flea Market DENNISVILLE - The Northwest Dennis Commission Club will hold a flea market 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ludlam School grounds on Route 47. Arts, this workshop has a registration fee. Since it will be limited to 30 participants, reservations are essential. Call 884-5404. Workshop participants will be taught how to make a quilt in the Log Cabin pattern. Measuring 52" by 66", quilts will be completed or nearly completed by the end of the day. PARTICIPANTS are expected to bring their own sewing machine, extension cord, thread, fabric, straight pins, needle, scissors, ruler, scotch tape, pencils and paper (detailed instructions will be sent to all registrants. ) Participants in the workshop will tfc entitled to a 10 percent discount on all supplies at the Crazy Quilt Cottage at 384 Myrtle Ave., West Cape May. This workshop will be led by Mrs. Jeanne White of Medford, a lecturer on antique quilts, teacher of numerous quilting techniques, and past owner of the Needle in the Haystack shop in Medford. Symphony To Perform WILDWOOD - The South Jersey Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Sam Muni, will present a free concert 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Wildwood High School. Special funding for the concert comes from the Musicians Performances Trust Fund, the county Board of Freeholders, and the Lower Cape May County Chapter of the South Jersey Symphony League.

Alison Logan, coordinator of education at the Wetlands Institute, and Joe Ostrowski, public information coordinator for the Vo-Tech Center, will provide educational exhibits. Free horticulture information will also be available to visitors. ENTERTAINING at the piano will be Grace O'Brien and Jack Warren. Mrs. Pauline Murphy, ways and means chairman for the garden club, will have a repeat of last year's popular table of herb items from the Rosemary Shop of Mechanics burg, Pa., flower pots and containers. There is no admission fee to view the show. Donations are accepted and are used for the garden club's plantings throughout the Borough o' Avalon.
