I Harris, Simpkins Pitch to Victory
Middle Township. I Wildwood. Wildwood I Catholic and Lower Cape I May Regional all recorded I wins on the baseball field I last week. Mkildwood pounded Pleasantville 9-1 behind the pitching of Andre Harris and Sam Simpkins. Tom Sawyer went two-for-two with the stick, plating two for the Warriors, while Tim O'Leary poked three RBIs and Rich Schmidt recorded two hits. Wildwood Catholic used a three-run-homer by Frank Lafferty to overcome Middle 11-7. THE PANTHERS LED 6-0 in the second but the Crusaders rallied for five runs in the third inning. Crusader Steve Brad cranked a three-run-double in the fifth inning. Brad Lafferty, Marty Delinski and Chris Haas each connected for a pair of hits for Wildwood. Ed Clan took the mound in the second inning for the win. Middle Township managed to pull off a 7-6 win over Sacred Heart. Paul Skill provided a seventh inning bunt for a sacrifice, sending home Sean Smith for the winning run. LOWER CAPE MAY crushed St. Augustine 23-7. Caper Frank Digillio cranked his seventh home run of the season and Todd Shoffler hit a grand slam. Shoffler's homer came during an 11 inning rally in the seventh.

Tom Sawyer tripled for two runs in the seventh inning and crossed the plate himself on an error. THE CAPERS LED 2-0 in the third as Mark Remy knocked in two runs on a i single. Middle smashed Wildwood Catholic 15-3, scoring 14 runs in the last three innings. Ocean City girls crushed Holy Spirit 23-1. Cindy Rau hurled a one hittei^and Lynn Argoe went four-for-four with five RBIs to lead the Raiders. The five inning bout featured 11 Raider runs in the second stanza. WILDWOOD MADE A second assault last week against Lower Cape May. when they downed the Capers 22-5. Twenty-four walks helped the Warriors to an easy win. Sharon Sittineri connected for three hits for the Warriors Michelle McKeon and Denise Smith led the Capers with three Child Abuse Bill Voted TRENTON — A bill sponsored by Assemblyman Joseph Chinnici that would create a state program to encourage counties to establish commissions on child abuse and missing children won final approval May 8 in the Assembly. "Hie bill, A-399, would appropriate $60,000 to the state Department of Human Services to implement the program. The Assembly concurred with amendments made by the state Senate and sent the bill to Gov. Thomas Kean. CHINNICI. R-Cape May. Cumberland, said the commission would address the problems of child abuse and missing children in their respective counties. The Department of Human Services would pay $2,500 for start-up or operational costs to each county that establishes a special commission. "We must do all we can to combat the serious problems of child abuse and missing children." Chinnici said. "It is not enough for the state to be involved. We need involvement on the county level. My bill would add a new force to the battle against these terrible incidents." The bill was approved 754).
