OK Tribute To Swedes WASHINGTON, D.C. - The House of Representatives has approved a resolution introduced by Congressman Bill Highes (D-NJ) which designates 1988 as the "Year of New Sweden". Hughes said the resolution is intended to help set the stage for a national celebration in 1988, to honor the many contributions which have been made by American pf Swedish and Finnish descent. He noted that New Jersey and Delaware are among 13 states which are now planning major activities to participate in the celebration, which will coincide with the 350th anniversary of the first arrival of Scandinavian settlers in the United States. THE U.S. SENATE has already passed an identical resolution authored by Sen. William Roth (R-Del), and Hughes said he is hopeful that the President will sign the measure into law shortly. Hughes said the jubilee is being planned primarily in the private sector, under the coordination of the New Sweden '88 American Committee of Minneapolis, MN. He said the federal resolution is intended to heighten public awareness of the celebration, and to give it official recognition by the U.S. government. HI

Blood Bank Accredited
COURT HOUSE - The Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital Blood Bank, has been granted renewal of accreditation by the American Associatioan of Blood Banks, according to Dr. Joseph Pirog, chief of pathology. Accreditation follows an intensive on-site inspection by representatives of the association and establishes that the level of medical, technical and administrative performance
within the facility meets or exceeds the standards set by the AABB. Dr. Pirog explained: "The AABB's inspection and accredition procedures are voluntary. It is not legally necessary for a blood bank or transfusion service to be accredited, but like many others, our facility has sought accredition because it represents a level of professional and medical expertise that meets and exceeds government regulations."

r mm THE BOTTOM LINE IN HOME DECORATING Selection of a floor covering is the bottom line in any home decorating project and its potential impact on the appearance or "mood" of a room or area should never he overlooked. The type of floorcovering you select should be based on considerations such as the room's function, amount of traffic, insulation and soundproofing needed and your personal tastes and preferences. Color, of course, is vital to your decorating scheme. The experts have even commented that, propertly used and understood, color can actually improve the life of the family at home. Wall-to-wall carpeting is considered advantageous as a decorating tool because it visually enlarges the size of a room by providing a continuous sweep of color. Room size rugs can accent a beautiful floor, while area rugs- can highlight a particular section of your home. Carpeting is one choice that can be used, practically, in almost every room in your home. Reds, oranges and yellows are generally considered to be "warm" colors, while blues, and greens are thought of as "cool" colors. If you want to make a room brighter and happier, consider using yellows. If you want to add some warmth and excitement to an area, you might select some oranges and reds. On the other hand, if you want to make a room seem quieter or more relaxed, try some blues and greens. If the proportion is right, most any color can be used with almost any other color. There are other considerations. Pale colors on things can make a room seem bigger, since pale colors recede and give a feeling of more space, while dark colors come toward you and make an area <eem smaller and more intimate. When selecting your floor covering, color can be used very effectively as a decorating tool. We can help you choose the colors and color combinations that will be right for your home. AVALON CARPET.
