GOT A CALL from Lou Minchelli of the Italian American Club expressing his regret at not giving me advance notice of the dinner dance held last Saturday at the Deauville Inn in "Beautiful Downtown Strathmere" Lou says they had over 100 in attendance and the procceeds will be used for two scholarships for Sea Isle students Lou says the books are still open and. anyone who wants to donate to this worthy cause can send checks to the Italian American Club. ... ^ Shirley Burns of the Environmental Commission gave us the rest of the story on the Turtle Crossing Project. The children, who entered the poster contest, will now paint turtle crossing warnings on plywood and the signs will be hung around town. To fund the project, Shirley and her group are conducting an 'Adopt a Turtle" Campaign. For a donation (minimum of S5) each { contributor will be given j adoption papers that indicate he or she owns a turtle Bring donations to the Beach Tag Office in the Community Center LOTS OF eating in town last week Catholic Daughters had 75 at their dinner at Mildred's and the Knights had 125 attend their Communion Breakfast at Garrity's. By the way. Joe Watson of Flyers' fame gave a verv inspirational talk. Speaking of food, does everybody recognize those adorable children on the Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee commercial? They are none other than Colleen and Patrick, offspring of pround parents Bill and Trish Gallagher. Cute, aren't they? HAD A FAIR crowd at the Town Meeting Monday night. John Newman. Mark Geiger and Verna Lunch represented the Management team; Georgy Ramsey. Larry Stevens and Joe Mc.Namara. the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee presented about half the problems listed in the report to the commissioners. Messrs. Mcllale, Van Artsdalen and Iannone discussed how they implemented the various suggestions. The balance of the report will be discussed at a November meeting. My wife and I have three grandchildren ; the youngest (Jackie) lives in PhiladelJ phia with her parents Tom

and Roe; two of them (Becky and Andrew) are courtesy of our son, Rich, and his wife, Ann. of Ocean View. Becky is in kindergarten and every Thursday I have the pleasure of babysitting Andrew. 3. Every week my former co-workers used to ask me to tell an "Andrew" story. Today I have an Andrew Story for you. AFTER YE.ARS of steadily declining hearing, I finally had the problem corrected with professional held of Dr. Joe Furey, Jim Saad. and Cape May Hearing Aid Center. I got not one, but two. SOMERS POINT - It's crowded at the top of the 151 -member Ocean City Chapter of the Shore Memorial Hospital Auxillar after the recent election of officers. The chapter is sharing executive duties with a history-making four presidents and four vice presidents. Ruth Cook, Betty Pollock. Melba Meadowcraft is recording secretary . Ann Frankenfield, corresponding secretary; Gertrude Reese, financial secretary a nd Ethel Taylor, treasurer.

On next visit, Andrew kept staring with a curious expression but said nothing. Finally, he said "Let's play magic", (must be seeing too much of Msgr. O'Connor). He took a rubber ball, cohered it with a silk herchief, and told me to guess what it was. First, I said a Bunny Rabbit and he said "No." Next I guessed a glass of water and that was also wrong. I then said a ball. Andrew said "No. it is an EAR". Hows that for being subtle? As we were going to press, I got late word of a "Hands Across Sea Isle" campaign to augment the Hands Across America proejct. Bill McGill is initiating it. Not much time for publicity. Hope it was a success.
