If you kept track of girls softball Friday, you may have thought it was the 13th rather than the 23rd. Ocean City. Middle Township. Lower Cape May Regional and Wildwood were all defeated Ocean City fell to MainIland. but the lady Raiders bear a 13-3 record to be proud of. Middle Township suffered a 9-2 blow by llammonton. The Panthers were unable to connect for a hit against Hammonton's Barb Sbarra until the sixth inning. Freshman Michelle Greenwaldt cranked a homer and Chris Holt singled in the seventh. Regional was defeated by Absegami 8-4. A 2-2 tie in the second was snapped by Kim Brenner and Samantha Smith, who scored RBI singles. Caper Janet McGraw poked a 2-run single for ■lower's tallies. W I L I> W » O I) W A S Sll I'TOl'T 9-9 by St. Joseph's as Joan Sulmonettie tossed a one-hit-ter Earlier in the week. Regional had some of the same medicine — being defeated by St Joe 4-3 in a comeback effort by the Wildcats Two Wildcat runs in the fifth knotted the score at 3-3. The sixth inning featured a St. Joe score by Lovelle Jenkins. Jenkins got on base after being hit by the ball. Worrell cranked a triple and recorded the win from the mound Memorial Donation COURT HOUSE - The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce recently donated $200 toward the purchase of a well and pump for the memorial honoring George Dramis. a local marine who was killed in a bomb blast in Beirut The slain Marine's parents. Jim and Luretta Dramis. had requested a $750 donation. Mrs. Dramis said she would seek similar donations from other ser-vice-organizations in the township to make up the $750 cost of the well and pump. The Dramises said they will donate a Bradford pear tree in honor of their son to be plantcdon the chamber's Colden Triangle. Dennisville Road and Magnolia Drive, thank the chamber for its contribution.

Wildwood was crushed by llammonton. The Warriors committed six errors in the third as llammonton coasted to victory Ocean City attracted some attention to the track when they met Cumberland and downed the Colts 65-57. | .

Tara Allen won the 100. 200 and 100 meter hurdles and high jump for the Colts. Dee Yates took the 400 and and 400 hurdles for the winner. It was not a fantastic week in sports but Cape May ffBnty- breeds nothing but winners regardless of the slats.

WILDWOOD CREST - For the first time in its 10-year history, the Wildwood Crest Swim Team competed head-to-head with an out-of-state swim team The Pisces Swim Team traveled "too miles from Trumbull. W^in . to Wildwood Crest and it wasn't disappointed. "The Trumbull. Conn., team was looking for a stronger team than its area had to offer." stated Dolphins head coach. Dave Hart "This area enticed them because it's a beautiful place to spend a weekend, as well as com pete with a strong club. It's really quite an honor to host such a team." The Pisces kicked off Wildwood Crest's summer season with a meet that went back and forth in scoring and brought out some exceptional swims.
