Hurley's bill would I establish an 18-member I citizen committee, known I as the Ocean Water Quality I Advisory Council, to advise I the governor on ocean I water quality issues. The I member of the council I would have expertise on a I variety of issues relating to I ocean water quality. HURLEY SAID. "There I are many dedicated inI dividuals with expertise in I marine issues who could be L extremely valuable to the I state in developing ocean I water quality policies. My I bill would enable us to take I advantage of this pool of I talent to help us address a I critical issue facing our I state." The Ocean Water Quality Advisory Council would recommend a course of action for the state to follow. In addition, it would review and monitor the implementation and enforcement of the state's ocean water quality policy. The council will be composed of: two experts in marine science; two experts in health science; two experts in water pollution control or waste management; one member of the fisheries industry, one member of the tourism industry; and 10 other 1 members who are residents of Atlantic, Cape May, Middlesex.
