St. Paul's Slates Double Celebration
STONE HARBOR - Rev. Michael P. Orsi, chaplain of Wildwood Catholic High School and an associate in residence at St. Paul's Catholic Church here, will be honored by St. Paul parishioners during the annual covered dish supper Sunday, starting 3 p.m. at the Women's Civic Club. His parents, Lavinia and Pompeo Orsi, Brooklyn, and his brother Paul will be on hand for the festivities. As of July 1, Father Orsi will be administrative assistant at Wildwood Catholic, where he has
been teaching the seniors Christian Living covering marriage and modern social problems, and scripture to the juniors. Also, he does some counseling. THIS SUMMER he will be attenting Fordham University, where he will be working for his M.S. in non-public school administration. As an altar boy and a student at St. Thomas Aquinas, Brooklyn, Father
Orsi knew he wanted to become a priest. "There were outstanding priests in the parish who were excellent role models," he said, nothing that parish priests do not realize the influence that they have. "Pritets raise priests," THEN IT WAS on to Cathedral Prep High School and Cathedral College in Douglaston, and then to St. Charles Seminary Overbrook, Pa. Orsi was ordained May 20. 1976 by Bishop George H. Guilfoyle in St. Aloysius Church, Brooklyn, and had his first assignment at St. Rose, Haddon Heights, with Bishop James Schad. ON TWO WEEKS' notice he was asked to go to Wildwood Catholic, and he has been ministering to the 325 students, faculty and staff ever since.
He is looking forward to his new assignment at Wildwood Catholic and will still remain loyal to his favorite baseball team, the Yankees.
