Capers' Jack Weeks Coaches 200th Win V -
There were quite a few wins on the baseball field last week as Ocean City.
Wildwood, Lower Cape May Regional and Wildwood Catholic
» defeated their competition. 1 Lower Cape May started : off the streak with a 6.3 win over Buena in Division II play. The Capers took the lead in the first and never gave it up. A Mark Remy two-run homer followed by two connections by Steve Worell and Frank Digilio plated a total of six runs. Caper coach Jack Weeks recorded his 200th win and has a career record of 200-141-5. WILDWOOD CRUSHED Sacred Heart 13-4. Andre Harris and Chuck Russell poked two apiece and Steve Severio and Rich Schmidt knocked in two runs each for the winners. Owning a 10-1 lead early made it easy for the Warriors to coast to the 13-4 decision. Ocean City overcame Egg Harbor Township 8-2 in Division I action. THE RAIDERS RECORDED two runs each in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to earn the win. John Carew propelled Ocean City with a two-run homer in the third. He collected three hits and nine RBIs for the afternoon. Chuck Boswell and Bob Goudie each poked two hits for the Raiders. Kevin Whelan struck out five and walked three for the win. WILDWOOD CATHOLIC SHUT OUT St. Augustine 15-0 thanks to the one-hit pitching of Jim Baumann. The sophomore whirler gave up an infield single with two outs in the seventh. The Crusaders plated 10 in the first inning. Frank Lafferty cranked
a two run homer while Steve Brad went three-for-three and Artie Cowan connected for two hits and three RBIs. ON t H E GIRLS DIAMONDS. Ocean City picked up two wins before ending its season. The first was a 3-2 clincher over Mainland. After a pair of errors and a passed ball by Ocean City, Mainland was able to knot the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh. Laurie Good grounded in
the ninth, causing a wild Mainland throw that allowed Raider Dorann Foglio to come home for the winning run. The Raiders then took Egg Harbor Township 18-5 with the assistance of 16 walks. OCEAN CITY WAS LED by Laurie Good and Lisa Crompton with two pokes apiece and a total of three runs. Denise Taucher and
Lynn Argo each contributed two of Ocean City's 16 connections. The action finally ended fgrj the Raiders when Central defeated them 2-1 in an extra inning South Jersey Group II final. Other losses last week featured an 11-1 Lower loss to Buena. Also beaten was Ocean City, by Oakcrest. Wildwood fell 12-1 to Pauls bo ro.

Aerobics In the Pool CAPE MAY -The city is offering Aqua Aerobics, something cool and refreshing that keeps the body toned and shaped up. It's an exercise class in the Cape May Elementary School swimming pool. Middle Residents In ' Hands' COURT HOUSE - Volunteers from Middle Township took part in the historic "Hands Across America" event by traveling to the Cooper River Parkway in Collingswood May 25. Approximately 125 residents of the township joined hands in an effort to demonstrate the strength and compassion of the American spirit of neighbors helping neighbors less fortunate. Sandra Lochten , township coordinator and Middle Township Mayor Michael J . Voll led the way. "Middle Township was the only community in Cape May County to turn out in force," stated Voll. "I am proud of their community spirit and though tfullness."
