Burdette Pre-Med Program COURT HOUSE - Students considering a medical career have an opportunity to learn more about the profession while spending the summer at the shore. For the fourth ! year. Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital's PreMed Orientation program will offer a close-up look at the "real world" of health care and doctoring. Robert Beitman, M.D., a practicing internist and gastroenterologist, created the program in 1983 and continu«"R> volunteer his time each summer to direct it. "The real life of a doctor involves more than diagnosing illness and prescribing treatment," says Dr. Beitman. who also hosts TV 40's Forum 40 on Health, and writes the weekly Health Watch' column in the Herald-Lantern-Dispatch. "Participants in this program see the rewards as well as the stress and aggravation that being a doctor sometimes involves." The four-week program is being held June 23-July 18. To receive a descriptive brochure and an application, write or call Bettie Crilly, Director of Volunteer Services, at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. 465-2000, extension 5320.
