Ocean City to Host Boardsailing Test

OCEAN CITY - Liberte de Timex has selected Ocean City as the only location on the Jersey Shore for its Boardsailing Regatta to celebrate the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. The Regatta is set for June 28-29 at the 12th Street Be^ch. Two international skippers, Stepane Peyron and Alain Pichavant, who recently crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a windsurfer, will be in Ocean City for the ceremonies along with Carolyn Stalins, a United States champion. The event is sponsored by the Timex Corporation and the French-American Committee for the Restoration of the Statue of Liber - 1(k ty. THE ARRIVAL of the Liberie de Timex in Ocean City will kick off a weekend of windsurfing competitions and other beach activities. Winners of the sailing contests will be flown to New York, where they will compete in the championship finals for a chance to win the grand prize, a trip to Paris, France. Beach activities for the weekend event include: a volleyball tournament, swimsuit competition, frisbee exhibition, windsurfing clinics, sandcastle building, tug-of-war and prize giveaways ranging from free Mistral Superlights to Members Only jackets, New York Airplane tickets, and commemorative Liberte de Timex watches and Tshirts. IN CONJUNCTION with the Regatta, plans in Ocean City also call for a Strawberry Festival to benefit the FrenchAmerican Committee for the Restoration of The Statue of Liberty hosted by the Ocean City Park and Recreation Department. Area Band Cuts Single WILDWOOD - S.F.T, the popular Philadelphiaarea band now appearing at the Quart Room, has released its second recor- . ding. j The single. "One Boy Ci- 1 1 ty." backed with "The | Frau," was released on its I own School Four label. \ Both are original \ compositions. The disk was recorded in March at Fresh Tracks Studio in Philadelphia, produced by S.F.T. and engineered by Larry Spivak. S.F.T. will be appearing at the Quart Room. Garfield and Pacific avenues, now until Labor Day. The record is available at the club and in Philadelphia-area record stores. Music Pier Blooms Sun. OCEAN CITY - The South Jersey Rose Society holds its fourth annual Rose Show Sunday at the Music Pier. The show is open to anyone who would like to enter roses and compete with other rose growers. The show will be open to the public 1-8 p.m. Admission is free. Individual rose entries may be made 7-10:30 am the day of the show.
