Hobie Cat Regatta June 21-22
CAPE MAY - On June i 21 and 22 the Cape May ] Classic Hobie Cat Regatta | will be held in the ocean off j this city. About 175 brightly i colored catamarans will be | launched from the beach at Grant Street and run a I triangular course. In each race there are i five or more separate 1 starts for different skill levels and boat lengths. 1 Three or four races will take place on both Saturday and Sunday, starting about 9:30 a.m. both days. These high speed boats are launched through the , surf, and return to the beach at breaks between i I Baseball Card Show June 20-21 ' j { I OCEAN CITY - Two l stars of legendary baseball i events will make guest ap- . pearances at the 6th Seashore Baseball card i and Sports Memorabilia Show, June 20-21 at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Bobby Thomson, who hit the dramatic "shot heard "round the world' ", a home rum to win a National League Pennant, will sign autographs 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. June 20. Don Larsen. who pitched the only no-hit perfect game in a World i Series, will appear 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. June 21. i EIGHTY TABLES of collectibles will be featured, | with dealers present from the West Coast and other i areas of the country. Free baseball cards will be distributed and over $2,000 in door prizes will be given away. The event is sponsored by the Eastern Pennsylvania Sports Collectors Gub in cooperation with the city. Show hours are noon to 10 p.m.
High winds often permit the one or twocrews to "fly a hull" and the rapid acceleration across the water provides a great spectacle. THE RACE is conducted by Hobie Fleet 416 of Lake Nockamixon, Bucks County, Pa., and is known as the Cape May Classic. It is sponsored by the City of Cape May, Hobie Fleet 416, Sailboat Headquarters, Tennis Clinic Set June 23 CAPE MAY - The city will again offer a tennis clinic for ages 7-15 beginning June 23 and running through Aug. 29. The class will take place Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 - 11 a.m. for ages 7-11 and 11 -noon for 12-15 at the Lafayette Street tennis court. Students must provide their own racquets with tennis balls being provided. Charles Wise Sr. will instruct both classes. Call the Department of Gvic Affairs at 884-8411 ext. 20 for more information. This Camp For Sailing OCEAN CITY - An unusual summer camp for young sailors is being offered by Bayview Sailboats, Bayview Avenue. Children get a three-hour lesson in sailing for five straight days. Tevis Wernicoff, "camp director" and Bayview owner, said the emphasis is on safety and sound sailing principles. Classes begin June 16 at 8: 30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
