Chapel at Point Opens for Season

CAPE MAY POINT - The historic little Beadle Memorial Presbyterian Chapel will again open its doors to worshippers for the summer season, beginning 10 a.m. June 29. The church welcomed President Benjamin Harrison while he vacationed at the Point in the late 19th Century. Speaking at the first service will be the Rev. Dr. James M. Phillips, associate director of the Overseas Ministries Studies Center in Ventnor. There will also be special music at the worship. MABEL HARGRAVES and other members of the board of trustees will conduct Sunday School for children during the sermons. In the event of rain, Sunday School will be moved across the street to the porch) of the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. Bruce Dowling. The theme of the session will be, "Jesus and Me". Following the services, refreshments will be served on the lawn. Julie Schmidt and Winifred Cook will be in charge. Robert Schmidt was reelected president of the board for the coming season, at the recent planning meeting of the trustees. Other officers are: James Barnes, vice president; Richard Hargraves, treasurer; and Mabel Hargraves, secretary. APPROVED AS speakers for the season are: the Rev. David G. Dr. E. Bradford Davis. Kensington Presbyterian parish, Philadelphia, Aug. 3; the Rev. Robert J. Walsh, the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace, Md., Aug. 10; the Rev. Dr. Kenneth E. Williams, Trenton State University, Aug. 17; the Rev. Walter L. Dosch, retired Presbyterian minister living in Devon, Pa., Aug. 24; and the Rev. Robert W. Osbourne Rowland, the Presbyterian Church of Marple, Pa., Aug 31. The building will be included on the Cape May i and Cape May House Tour June 28 and 29.
