Chaplain Outlines CG Centeir Task
NORTH CAPE MAY - Lt. Stephen Hulsey. a Navy chaplain serving Protestant ministries at the Cape May Coast Guard base, spoke to th.e Lower Township Kiwanis Club here about the demands of his job. He addressed the specific problems that confront a chaplain in a recruit training facility. Hulsey. who has served with the Marine recruits at Camp Lejune in North Carolina and recently led the U.S. Senate in its invocation. listed three areas of chaplaincy service. The first is worship, where he is given the challenge of setting a ser-
vice that meets the demands of the variety of Protestant faiths on the base. Second, he serves in counselling the recruits, both in the office and at the different work areas. •THE MEN HAVE to know that they can come to me to vent their frustration. and know that it won't go any further." said the chaplain. The final area of service is in education. Chaplain Hulsey teaches the recruits about stress management and marriage and family concerns. "I'm not a psychologist - I'm a clergyman."
