Bus Trip Planned To Enshrinement

The Polish American Association of South Jersey has scheduled a bus trip Sunday to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown. Pa., for a ceremony to dedicate the Paderewski heart enshrinement. It is also the 45th anniversary of Igancy Jan Paderewski's demise. Paderewski is remembered as a Polish concert pianist and composer of world renown before Warld War I. HE BECAME the first premier of Poland in 1919 and represented it in treaty negotiations at Versailles. He resigned from office after serving 11 months and resumed his concert career. June 29, 1941, Paderewski died at 89. President Franklin D. Roosevelt told officials of the Polish Embassy that Paderewski's body would find a temporary resting place in the vault of the Mast of Maine at Arlington National Cemetery, where the body remains "until Poland is free". Paderewski's heart was not buried with the rest of the body. It has been preserved in a small bronze urn kept in a marble niche in the Abbey Mausoleum in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn. NOW. na of Czestochowa. A Solemn High Mass will be celebrated at noon, following which the enshrinement of Paderewski's heart will be fulfilled. Contact Stella Sysocki for bus reservations at 345-7777, evenings after 7 p.m. Rummage Sale Slated July 12 AVALON — The Avalon United Methodist Churchwomen will hold their annual bazaar and rummage sale 9 a.m. -2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the church, 34th and Dune Drive. The food table will sell home-made chicken salad, soups, baked goods, candies, and jellies. Light lunch will be sold on the parking lot. There will be a Christmas boutique, as well as white elephants, r handcrafted items, books, I games, and new gift items. Jubilee ' On Fourth OCEAN CITY - The | stars and stripes will be fly- [ ing high during this city's "July Jubilee" celebration I of the Fourth of July. Two bike parades, one [ starting at 46th Street on Central Avenue and the other at Longport Bridge, will kick off the day at 10 a.m. They are sponsored by the Cedar Beach Civic Association and the Garden Civic Association. Later, at 9 p.m., Ocean City will present its annual fireworks display on the football field. 6th Street off the Boardwalk. A kite flying contest, 6 p.m., and a Banjo Band Concert, ^ p.m., will be held on the football field preceding the fireworks. By Violins, Choral Unit COURT HOUSE - The free concert in the Cape May County Park Sunday, features two diverse musical groups. At 2 p.m.. the Singing Ambassadors of Vineland begin the program. The Ambassadors are a nonprofit group of mixed voices who have performed extensively throughout the eastern seaboard. Following the Ambassadors. at 3 p.m.. are the Suzuki Violin Students of the New Jersey School of Music in Cherry Hill. The violin students will perform a variety- of classical and contemporary selections. The summer concerts at - the park are free to the public. Spectators must provide their own seating.
