OCEAN CITY - Armed with buckets and shovels, contestants 5 years old and up will try their talents at sand sculpting some aspect of the Statue of Liberty during this city's special contest starting 10 a.m. Saturday on the 12th Street Beach. The contest is part of the _ two-day Boardsailing
Regatta and windsurfing competition which begins Friday, with a mayor's reception for the two Frenchmen who recently crossed the Atlantic on windsurfers in the Liberie De Timex Tour. THE SURFERS are sailing up the East Coast on windsurfers and will arrive in New York City July 5 to commerate the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. Ocean City was the only location on the Jersey Shore to be chosen by Liberie De Timex for the J regatta celebration before — it reaches its final destination. Participants may choose to enter one of six division of the contest : 5 to 6 years, 9 to 12 years, 13 to 16 years, single adults, group adults. — or families. Each category 1 is limited to three participants, with the excepI tion of families. Only j buckets, shovels, sand and | water can be used. TO ENTER the contest, J participants are asked to E arrive at the 12th Street Beach at 10 a.m. Saturday. Judging will begin at noon and prizes will be awarded for skill and creativity in sculpting. There is no entry fee J Musical entertainment ^ by the "Young Entertainers ' and "South Jersey School of Baton and Dance", plus a strawberry festival, balloon launch, treasure hunt for kids, and a Freckle Contest will also E be featured throughout the ~ day. The Lulu Chanter Singers will perform, 8 I p.m.. on the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn I Terrace. j For Singles JSOMERS POINT - The Single Parents Society E holds regular dances 8:30-11 :30 p.m. Tuesdays at Somers Point Fire Co. 1, Bethel Road. Music is furnished by the Silhouettes. Refreshments are served, and guests are J welcome to bring their own | alcoholic beverages.
