38th House Tour To Cap Weekend

CAPE MAY — A series of events topped by the 38th annual Old House Tour this weekend will close out the month of June for the Cape May County Art League. Included are the following: Musical entertainment and wine and cheese reception at the Art League, 1050 Washington St., Friday. Singer/entertainer Carol Roop and Mrs. Ruth Fritsch, her accompanist, will perform songs from "That's Entertainment", oldies, a salute to "George M" and more. The "Theatre by the Sea" performers will give a sneak preview rehearsal of their upcoming plays. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Patriotic Events At Congress Hall

CAPE MAY - The annual Fourth of July picnic and patriotic musical celebration on the Congress Hall lawn will be one of South Jersey's biggest events of the 1986 summer. The day will combine an ali-American picnic, a four-hour band concert, and an hour-long patriotic musical celebration and I will conclude with the fireworks show over the Congress Hall beach. This year's celebration will get underway at 4 p.m. with a band concert of patriotic and classic American tunes on the ocean-front lawn. Also beginning at 4 p.m. is the Ail-American Picnic. Hotdogs and hamburgers grilled over charcoal fires will be accompanied by potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, apple pie and other American favorites. BOTH THE concert and 'Mr. Roberts' On Tuesday CAPE MAY — "Mr Roberts", the 1955 comedy classic directed by Mervyn LeRoy and John Ford, is the first in the vintage film series shown during the summer by the MidAtlantic Center for the Arts. This hilarious film treat is about life aboard a Navy cargo ship during World War II. The vintage film series is shown Tuesdays at 8:15 p.m. at the air-conditioned Victorian Towers Auditorium, Ocean and Washington Streets. Admission is charged. Workshop On Pastels CAPEMAY"American Victorian" artist Jacqueline Chesley, whose paintings are on exhibit and sale at the Carriage House Gallery here, is offering a workshop to the public on her style and feeling of pastels. Chesley has been featured in American Artist Magazine and exhibited widely. Her flair for life is expressed in her paintings and she wishes to share it. THE EVENING will reach its finale at 9 p.m. as ! the last musical selection leads into a fireworks display over the Congress Hall beach, which will be sponsored by the City of Cape May and the Cape May Chamber of Commerce.
