In Search ■ Of Turtles STONE HARBOR - Turtles — not the roadcrossing diamond back terrapins familiar to local residents — are the object of Roger Wood, chairman of the Wetlands Institute board of trustees, in his trip this month to Kenya. Wood was to do research • on aquatic turtles, par4 ticularly a previously unkown, new species of side-necked turtles. These amphibians live along the shores of Lake Turk ana, formerly Lake Rudolf, a 130-mile expanse of alkaline water in remote northeastern Kenya. Courts Set For Tennis STONE HARBOR - The borough Recreation Department is now open. The tennis facilities at both 82nd and 96th Streets are available for play. Tennis instruction by Orton Hicksaat at the 82nd Street courts started June 16. Lessons will carry through the month of August.
