Pie Eating to Be Creative, Artistic
OCEAN CITY - The world's first Artistic Pie Eating Contest for "creative and discrete" nibblers will be held l p.m. July 5, in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace The contest, designed to put a touch of class into a normally gross event, is part of the city's "July Jubilee" celebration. June 27 through July 6. The idea is to munch a pie slowly into some sort of artistic design rather than stuff it down quickly, which often results in unseemly regurgiation. THERE WILL be two divisions. Family Size Pies and TastyKake I n - dividuals. The TastyKake Co. has donated a supply of lemon pies for participants. "This will be a real challenge." notes Mark Soifer, City Public Rela-
tions Director and coordinator of the contest. "The TastyKake Division will push a creative nibbler's talents to the limit because of the pie's narrow, rectangular shape." Participants will have five minutes to complete their entries. No knives, forks or utensils will be permitted. "This is a*»ntest for people with talented teeth." reports Soifer. "Hands may be used to hold the pie only." "THE CONTEST will elevate pie eating to a status it has never before enjoyed." proclaims the event's official entry form which is full of bragadocio. To enter, register noon in front of the Music Pier. There is no fee. Contestants should bring bibs and aprons and a wet cloth napkin to keep the surroundings pristine
The current president of the Association is Carl R. Biletta of Vineland. According to Biletta. public support of the Celebration Seal drive is crucial to the survival of the association and its goals of providing services and education in the chest diseases and health to all residents of South Jersey. Biletta emphasized that no one is ever denied services because of financial restraints. Individuals not on the association's mailing list . can; request seals by writing to the Chest and Health Association at 21 S. Washington Street. Hammonton.
