Vet Given Sheriffs Position COURT HOUSE - After donating his services to the Cape May County Sheriff's Department for the past year. Dr. Sam Rubin has been named officially as veterinarian for the department. Sheriff James Plousis started the bloodhound unit in May. 1985, with a bloodhound donated by the sheriff's department of Union County and a second bloodhound purchased by the Mid-Jersey Rotary. The food for the dogs was donated by Cody's Feed of Tuckahoe and Croitor's Feed of Court House. The unit is at the disposal of any law enforcement agency and have been detailed to over 40 calls, resulting in locating four missing persons and solving eight crimes leading to recovery of over $35,000. In addition, the information obtained by the dogs assisted in many other arrests. Honor Roll In Avalon AVALON - Seven students at Avalon Elementary School were designated for high honors for the final marking period. They are: Michelle Conklin, Matthew Haryslak, Stacey Trainor, and Michael Zane, eighth grade; Michelle Robinson and Samuel Scott, seventh grade. Also picked for honors were Brendan Borek, Keith Greenberg, Ashley O'Connor, Ernest Yarborough, and Tracey Ziegler, seventh grade. Delaware Graduates NEWARK, DEL. - Three Cape May County residents received baccalaureate degrees from the University of Delaware at its 137th commencement exercises June 1 at Delaware Stadium on the campus here. Local graduates are: Marlene Mildred Clayton, Avalon; Colleen Patricia Crippen, Wildwood; and Michelle Lynne Ewing, Cape May.
