By LIBBY DEMP FORREST FIREWORKS and family get togethers are on this week's agenda. The Fourth of July this year will be paired with Lady Liberty's 100th anniversary in New York Harbor. Locally, there are races, picnics, special events and of course — fireworks — to putpizazz into this all American holiday. Thomas Jefferson and our other founding fathers would be proud of all the celebrating we go for on tne Fourth. • • • It's band concert time of year and there is hardly a town along the Jersey coast that doesn't offer outdoor music to float through the sweet Jersey night. We like our symphony orchestras and the fine acoustics of a concert hall, but a band concert is a part of the summer social season. THE APPLAUSE is generous and if your feet get clicking you might as well get up ana dance around. Band music is music from the heart, don't you think? • • • There's good things for eating at the farm markets and the grocery stores. Gardens are full of pretty things; our sons tell us the beaches are full of pretty things too. Whatever your pleasure July will be bringing it in abundance. * * • Holiday time is a great eating out time. No matter what setting you Tike, Cape

May county is ready with it. Here are several restaurants with great settings and great food: WATERS EDGE. The all new Waters Edge Restaurant at Beach and Pittsburgh Avenue in Cape May boasts local Cape May seafood and original pasta specialties you are to truly enjoy. Good mornings start at the Waters Edge with a choice of appetizing breakfasts including the Sand Dollar (choice of juice and three blueberry pancakes with coffee or tea for $3.25), the Mermaid (choice of juice, two eggs on a croissant with melted cheese anabacon, coffee or tea, all for $3.75), or eggceptional omelettes such as cheese, Western, House (feta cheese, spinach and onion), ■ or mushroom. Lots of other choices too during the morning, afternoon and evening hours. There is always ample free parking. • • • ZABERER'S. Zaberer's may be listed among the last places in the alphabet, but it is first among the county's most famous restaurants. Located just off exit 6 southbound of the Garden State Parkway, it prepares extraordinary meals in an out of this world atmosphere. Antique buffs feast their eyes while they dine on such delicious entrees as Maine Lobster Thermidor, Broiled Prime Sirloin Steak, old fashioned baked stuffed pork chop. Deviled Clams, Roasted Tom Turkey (with all the fixin's (why wait until Thanksgiving), and whole roasted jumbo veal shank. We consider Zaberer's in a class by itself. * * •

COUNTRY HOUSE. Three decades of serving old fashioned country food haven't changed the good cooking at the Country House Restaurant, on U.S. 9 in Burleigh (one mile south of exit 8 of the Garden State Parkway) . That great old fashioned South Jersey pot pie is still on the menu along with the roast boneless breast of chicken with homemade stuffing. The baked ham with lemon sauce is still there too along with the familiar combination seafood pTatter. The homemade soups and fresh baked pies are as great as remembered. Many families say it wouldn't be a trip to the shore and along Route 9 without dinner at the County House Restaurant. • • • THE WHITEBRIER. If the Whitebrier sounds like a place where time stands still, you have it exactly right. Located at 20th Street, between Ocean and Dune Drive, Avalon, it remains one of the county's unsurpassed dining places. Open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, it features live dance music Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The old time elegance is as unchanged as remembered while the chef keeps up with the finest traditions of shore cooking. The wine list is impressive. Reservations are suggested — call 967-5225.
