Barbo Set To Launch SIC Series
SEA ISLE CITY - Sal Barbo, one of the city's .favorite entertainers, will open the 1986 summer concert series 7:30 tonight. Barbo has gained a wide following throughout the Delaware Valley for his rich voice and entertaining (performances. The )* Avalon Movies AVALON - The borough Recreation Department lias announced the films to be shown in its summer series, scheduled for 7:30-9 o'clock Friday nights at Avalon Community Hall, 30th Street and Avalon Avenue. To be presented are: July 11: Rip Van Winkle, Peter and the Wolf, Little Toot. July 18: Work. Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Fisherman and His Wife. Thumbelina, Shot and Bothered (Road Runner). Aug. l: Gnomes. Animal Movie. Bold King Cole, Casey at the Bat, Dick Whittington. Aug. 8, Popeye: Alladdin and his Wonderful Lamp, Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss on the Loose. Brown Wolf. Philadelphia-born tenor began his singing career in 1948, studying with Mme. Grace Welch Piper, tenor Giovanni Martinelli, Carl Suppa. and Marco Farnesi. Barbo has appeared with the Suburban Opera Co., The Rittenhouse Opera Co., and the Philadelphia Opera Co. He is well known for his radio and television appearances, some of which include guest appearances with Sergio Franchi and Mike Douglas on "The Mike Douglas Show", the late Hollywood actor and comedian, Mickey Shaugnessy, Hollywood singer-actor, Dennis Ray. and organist. Larry Ferrari. He will be accompanied by accordanist Dan Desiderio, and percus-
