Cape May Tours Continue in July

CAPE MAY - Trolley. Walking, and House Museum Tours will be featured daily this summer as part of the city's year around schedule of tours. The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) will sponsor: Trolley tours of the National Landmark District, which begin at the the Trolley Station, Beach Drive at Gumey St. This summer. MAC will offer three distinct tours. THE HISTORIC East End Tour includes the * historic Physick Estate, two Victorian Hotels. Columbia Avenue. Ocean Street, and Hughes Street, the oldest residential street in the city. The tour will depart on the following daily schedule: 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m.. 12:15 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:00 p.m.. 2:45 p.m.. 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m The Historic West End Tour, includes Congress Hall. Huntington House.

The Tour will depart on the following daily schedule: 10:15 a.m., 11 a.m.. 11:45 a.m.. 12:45 a.m.. 1:30 p.m.. 2:15 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. THE BEACH Drive Tour, designed for the architecture buff, features a century of beach housing, from Victorian cottages through turn-of-the-century mansions, to exotic revivals of the 1910s and '20s, to the best of contemporary design. The Beach Drive Tour will depart 4: 15 p.m. daily. Walking Tourss are especially designed for those who like history close-up and in detail. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides lead visitors on a comfortable stroll spiced with historical insights into the customs and traditions of the Victorians and their ornate, delightful architecture. Tours begin at the Information Booth at the head of the Washington Street Mall (at Ocean St.) on the following schedule: Saturdays. Sundays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 10:00 a.m. ; Mondays. Thursdays and Fridays: 7 p.m. TOURS OF the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., features the 16- room house designed by renowned architect Candlelight Concerts July 10-12 CAPE MAY - Three varied attractions will be presented at the Chalfonte Hotel as part of its "Concerts by Candlelight" series. July 10. 11. and 12. Mezzo-soprano Pamela Gore will offer an allAmerican program of Stephen Foster songs, spirituals, and songs by Virgil Thompson and other American composers, Thursday, July 10. A musically illustrated lecture on the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan will be presented Friday, July 11. by Dr. Richard Gore, former chairman of the music department of the University of Wooster. He will be accompanied by his daughter, mezzo-soprano Pamela Gore. THE SAVOY Opera Company of Philadelphia will be featured Saturday, July 12. at the 1986 Savoy Southern County Dinner. The Savoy, both chorus and soloists, will perform selections from a number of Gilbert & Sullivan operas, including Ruddigore. All may be enjoyed as part of # dinner/concert package. Reservations are necessary. For reservations or information, call 884-8409. Fireworks! NORTH WILDWOOD — Topping off the holiday celebration in traditional fashion, the city will stage a fireworks display 9 p.m. Friday. July 4, at 25th Avenue and the Board- | walk. Everyone is invited.

The tour runs every day except Monday on the following schedule: 10:30 a.m.. 11:15 a.m.. noon, 12:45 p.m.. 1:30 p.m.. 2:15 p.m. Every week in July MAC operates Physick Estate and Trolley Tours specially geared for children 6-12. Children's Physick Estate Tours run every Tuesday morning at 10 while Children's Trolley Tours run every Thursday morning at 9 and 9:30, and begin at the Trolley station. Beach Drive at Gurney Street. Romantic moonlight trolley rides are offered aboard MAC'S open air trolley. This hour-long evening jaunt carries you visitors the booming surf of the beachfront and back through the heart of the Historic District. This ride leaves from the Trolley

Station, Beach Drive at Gurney Street. 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. ' Pygmalion ' On Tuesday CAPEMAY"Pygmalion", the 1938 English film directed by Anthony Asquith and Leslie Howard, is the second in the Vintage Film Series sponsored by the Mid-At-lantic Center for the Arts this Tuesday. July 8. at 8: 15 p.m. Starring Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller, this film version of Bernard Shaw's play is bright, witty and superbly acted. It was later remade into a musical as "My Fair Lady". Films are show in the airconditioned Victorian Towers at Ocean and Washington Streets. Admission is charged.
