Wings n Water Festival Sept. 20

STONE HARBOR - The fourth annual New Jersey Wings n' Water Festival at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor is being held, as always on the third weekend in September. This year it is Saturday. Sept. 20, and Sunday, Sept. 21. for a celebration of nature in the coastal environment. marked by 30 different events in four Cape May County communities. A WORI.D-CLASS juried show and sale of decorative bird carvings and decoys and a separate show and sale of wildlife paintings and photographs will bring carvers, artists and photographers to Avalon and Stone Harbor from all parts of the country. The cream of the professionals is exhibited at the Wings 'n Water Festival. One highlight Of the festival will be the county's largest flea market, at Jamesway Plaza in Court . House. More than 200 ven--pJ dors are expected, offering everything from hunting gear to beachwear. J FOR THE FOURTH con- ~ iecutive year the New Jersey Department of I rravel and Tourism has J SIC Hosts Rock Tour : Kickoff v, SEA ISLE CITY - The rock group "Enforcer" will J be kicking off its new =. album promotional tour here at 7 p.m. July 4 with a | free concert on the Promenade at Kennedy U Boulevard and the beach. "Enforcer" is an original f rock and roll band with roots in Sea Isle City, but I home-based j n j Philadelphia. The band it- members are Rick Mar- ■ shall. Jesse Hunter, Jon Barnes, Todd Perrine and Richard Sonick. They have written and recorded a rock ballad, "Sea Isle City", about the family vacationland, a departure from their regular hard driving original sound. J THE CONCERT will be the first in a series that will take the group to Wildwood July 12 and to Delaware J and Virginia in August. The free local concert is presented by the city for | the youth of the area, as a -J part of the resort's 4th of I July week-end festivities. awarded the Wings 'n Water Festival a matching grant to help promote the celebration and the state slogan "New Jersey & You: Perfect Together." The grant will be matched by funds from the nonprofit, private Wetlands Institute, which benefits by the festival. THIRTY EVENTS in the two-days festival will include a five-mile run early Saturday morning, a sunset charter cruise that evening and a live falcon program that night. There will be lots of food, from an old-fashioned flounder dinner with all the trimmings to an open air clam and oyster bar where guests can watch and anticipate while the shellfish are opened to order. There will be band concerts. a craft and quilt show featuring the Wetlands Needlers' newest quilt "Leaf Prints." designed by Wetlands staff member Marion Glaspey; a birdseed sale, games for children; retriever demonstrations; and lunches and snacks at many of the festival sites. A FREE open air trolley on wheels will provide transporation back and forth between children's games, seashore garden walks, and all other event centers. Proceeds from the Wings *n Water Festival benefit the Wetlands Institute, an organization dedicated to education and research concerning salt marsh and coastal ecology.
