Home Run Derby Is Lure
STONE HARBOR - The Phillies announced plans to bring the popular Home Run Derby to Stooe Harbor Friday. The starting time is 11 a.m. at the 81st Street recreational field. The contest is free to all boys and girls 8 to 15, and official entry forms will be available at the field the day of the contest. TastyKake and Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce, sponsors of the derby in Stone Harbor will award a total of 40 prizes. First, second and third place winners in each category will receive a Phillies engraved plaque. The winners will be ivited to a regional final to be held in August. FROM THE Regionals, winners will compete for the championship to be held at Vetrans Stadium, Sunday, Aug. 31, prior to a Phillies game. The other prizes, Phillies tickets and other baseballrelated items, will be awarded by random drawing. This way, every boy or girl entering the contest is a potential winner, regardless of scores. Any ground ball within the baselines is one point, distance hits are worth two points and home runs add five points to the score.
