NORTHFIELD- Joseph R. Zelnik of this newspaper last week received a first place in the "best column" category of the Atlantic City Pros Club's Golden Quill competition. The contest had more than 100 entries from newspapers and radio and television stations in the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties and a portion of Gloucester County. Entries were judged by the Philadelphia Press Association. Tied for the best column award was Daniel Heneghan of the Press fo Atlantice City for his casino columns.

ZELNIK S WINNING entry included columns of April 24, June 26 and July 10. They dealt with "beach finds," posing as a tourist, and futile attempts to assemble an outdoor gas grill. The column appears on the editorial page weekly. The awards were presented at a Press Club luncheon at the Atlantic City Country Club June 24. Other writing awards included: news story, Don Russell of The Sun; feature, Robert Love of Atlantic City Magazine; and sports, Dave Bontempo of The Press. A Seminar On Careers RIO GRANDE - About to enter the job market? Unclear about career goals? A job change in the future? Participants will work to identify their strengths in problem-solving, interests, values, skills and abilities. That information will be inj tegrated to see where the participants are in their I career and where they want to go. The workshop will also help develop an action plan based on the findings.
