Approval for demolition and reconstruction of the Hotel Avalon by Philtone, Inc. will be sought tomorrow night from the Avalon Zoning Board at its reorganizational meeting at 7:30 in the meeting room at Borough Hall, Dune Drive. Philtone's application is for a use and special reasons variance and site plan approval for a fourstory1 hotel that will replace the Bongo Room and the original hotel built 98 years ago. PLANS CALL for a 50-unit hotel consisting oi 46 two-bedroom units and four one-bedroom units plus a 53-seat lounge, and a swimming pool Also included is the building of 10 single-family units adjacent to the hotel, which is located between Emergency Banner Sale * COURT HOUSE - "Please Call Police" emergency banners are being sold by members of the Coalition Against Rape and Abuse, Inc. as apart of a Community Safety Program begun June 25. According to Dot Lehman, community educator, the organization has undertaken the project to alert residents in the county that women and older adults are subject to violent crimes. The emergency banners are available by calling the Coalition Against Rape and Abuse at 522-6489 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Proceeds from the sale of the banners will be used for rape and abuse prevention programs.
