SUFFRAGETTES ARE BADLY BEATEN Majority of 353 In Cape May County Against Granting Woman Franchise. Stale Majority will Exceed 60,000; Issue Dead For Fiva Yaara at Least The Suffrage Amendment was badly beaten all over Uie Nate at Uie Special Kleclioo last Tuesday. While complete retnrus are not yet available, Indications show that Uie majority against will be folly W.dOO. Cape May County 1430 votes for suffrage and 1783 against, making a majority of 3&S against. Kvery county in the State went against the amendment, except, alone. Ocean Connty, wliere it got a
a majority of 200.
The ligures available on Uie outcome follow, Uie majorities of Uiese counties all being against Uie amendment: Atlantic 3S56, Bergen KkW, Burlington 1506, Camden 2517, Cumberland 724, Kaaex 14,331. Gloucester .HO, Hudson 75(2. Hunterdon 510, Mercer 3334, Middlesex 2257, Monmouth 1560, Morrit Passaic 1861, Salem 3H5, Somerset 1451, Kosaex 814, Union :I573, Warren 530. late returns allowed that the second nnd third amendments were also decisively beaten. One of Uiese provided for a simpler method of amending Uie Stale Constitution, while Uie oUier would have allowed municipalities to condemn more land than was actually needed for public improvements. The result waa a land slide against all three
of Uie quesUons.
