The Com■nliee elected wae James T. Chapman, Professor C. J. Carrol and William A. Haffert. It 1s planned to eecuie a suitable heated and lighted room in an accessible part of the city, and have the library opened at slated times, with a librarian in charge. The sentiment of the meeting, at which about thirty were present, was strongly for tbs library, and it was the chief topic under discussion. Professor H. Suck house, who was to deliver an illnsuated lecture, failed to put in an appearance for some nnaccountable reason, altlioogb the screen and lantern were In place and ready. The Lighting Committee reported that they had given the contract for wiring the upper hall in the sdiool to Ralph Short, he being the lowest bidder. Hie bid of $27.75, against the next

FOR PROMOTION OF THE DOMESTIC ARTS

The annual meeting of the Cape May County Council for the promotion of the Domestic Arts was held in the rooms of the Superintendent of County Instruction last Thursday and with good representation. In the un-

Mrs. Virginia Chester, there was no report except as Miss Lucy Corson, the acting secretary, had her personal notes to offer as questions came up. The President, Aaron W. Hand, showed the progress made in the year in entry of the Contest the week previous, which had been over 600 aragainst 40 of the contest at the County Fair the year previous. A large number of Circles, each with its Counsellor, had been organized during the year but had hardly, as yet, recovered from the interim of the

summer vacation.

Mrs. R. P. R is Icy reported as delegate to the Congress of Mothers held in Trenton the previous week, and with especial reference to the lunchprepared and served by the students in Domestic Science of the Normal School and held in the Gymnasium of the Building, and which must have been an object lesson to those who have such things to supcrintciyi at home The appointment of Miss Ethel Nickerson, of Sea Isle, as County Organizer of Domestic Art Circles approved, and every possible assistance would be rendered. M. Stafford, Counaellor of Palermo, gave the conditions in Upper Township and referred to the splendid exhibit made in the recent contest by its Circle. The Tuckahoe Home and School was represented in the Congress of Mothers by Miss Regina Kleefeld, a former teacher and still a member. The events of the year had been, a luncheon for those attending the Teachers’ Meeting in March, and by which they had cleared $33, an evening meeting at which Miss Anna Beygatc of the Girls' Normal School, Philadelphia, spoke upon “The Help the Parents Can Give to the Teacher”. At the annual meeting held the 15th insL, it was reported that paper towelling had been placed in the schools. Prof. Bond, the High School Principal, and Mr. Hess, of the Tuckahoe National Bank, reported upon starting a saving fund in the High School, and which If successful, would be begun also in the Grammar school. The report of Mrs. Z. A. Townsend for the Tuckahoe and Marshallville schools said, one hour a week waa all that was allowed for the Circle work.
