J, as aecond-dasa matter. WHAT DOES 191 h HOLD FORTH 7 ny times has every resident and business May County asked himself that question, when thinking of the summer season now just around the comer? With the wheels of industry humming and the attention of the entire nation focused on the speed-up program of war-work; with the pockets of the populace in the cities literally bulging with the proceeds of their labors m the war industries; with the constant admonitions of Hoover, Garfield and aundry government economists, preaching conservation *nd personal sacrifice, isn’t there danger that Mr. Average Man will be snug and content and remain at borne this summer instead of spending a little of that
surplus coin at the shore
Yea, there is clanger—grave danger.
But another element which lends hope and light to the situation is the fact that human nature is human nature in war-time as well as any other—and the great American tendency is to spend. W« are getting away from it fast, that is true. But the economy. (if such it is), of staying in a hot city over the summer months,
will be the last to be practiced, and unless we miss opr guess, the I A<Mr*.». ocean Cliy
soushore this season .will experience unprecedented prosperity. £; We believe that every hotel and boarding houae will oe tilled to ouigfioying, and that cottages will rent fast, and at good price*. The sea shore generally, has experienced the worst winter it has ever known—thousands of our normal winter population answering the cal) of high wages in the munition plants, or the nobler call of the Nation to the colors. Our population between the two was reduced to less than hall tne normal winter population. The fag end of the winter finds us blue and pessimistic, and inclin-
ed to growl.
Forget it. Yesterday is gone. Winter is pasL Summer is just ahead—Easter only a few weeks oil—than Fourth of July! Prepare for Prosperity this summer.
