The interment was made privately at the Friends' Cemetery. Wojdstown. N. J. FORMER COUNTY PROSECUTOR MATHEW JEFFERSON HOME, AFTER EIGHTEEN MONTHS IN STATE PRISON; GREETED BY HOSTS OF FRIENDS WHO MET HIM.

Former County Prosecutor Mathew Jefferson, who waa convicted ot malfeasance in office, returned yesterday to his Cape May County home at South Dennis, having been pardoned by the Board of Pardons, at the expiration of his minimum eighteen months' term at the SUte prison. The $1000 fine was remitted. Mr. Jefferson ws* given a royal welcome fiy many of his friends who met him yerterday. A dinner is planned In hia honor by a number orpromlnent ills, to be given at an ear-

Prosecutor Jefferson waa convicted on a technicality, and the faith of his many friends waa unshuken despite his conviction. He appealed the ease to the Court of Errors and Apt*ala, and later appealed to the Supreme Court, bat the appeal waa not heard. A petition waa circulated fourteen months ago. and was signed by sever*! thousand county residents, asking the Board of Pardons and the Governor, to remit the sentence and pardon Jefferson. No one ever knew what became of the petition. The charge upon which Jefferson was convicted was that be accepted bail money from person* whom be to be arrested for operating In Wildwood, and that
