Independence Day Celebration
Fourth of July will be appropriately observed in Sea We City, with a hugh patriotic demonstration and a “Welcome Home” for the bo>s back froin the service of Uncle Sam. The program includes sports off the beach, motor-cycle races and a display of fireworks in tkc evening. On Saturday a testimonial dinner will be given to the returned soldiers. A resolution was passed asking the Chamber of Commerce of Cape May County to consider the planting of memorial trees along the highways in co-operation with the Pomona Grange. Unanimous endorsement was given a resolution presented by Dr. Yerkes. Past Master of both the Pomona and Tuckaboe Grange, against permitting the use of County roads on Sundays for moving ’.rucks, vans and freight and market trucks, either loaded or empty, and of all business vehicles, except with special penult’as on errands of necessity. Besides a violation of the' law they were a menace to the lives and safety of pedestrians and a danger to light vehicles used for personal comfort. More than this, they were a nuisance In their noise and dust. This was referred to the
County Chamber of Commerce.

At the meeting of the City Cotumlasioners. held at the City Hall on Monday afternoon, all Commissioners were present. Mayor Fitch presiding. It was concluded to comply with the law requiring the publlcaUon of the proceedings of the City Commissioners every month, which law has been ignored by the previous Commission bod le*. Under ibi* system the taxpayers will be enabled to know each month Just what the Commissioners have done .from their official minutes, and will be given an Itemised list of all bills paid, and to whom and In what sum. This will prove invaluable informatlo:. to the cltlxens of Sea Isle City, apd will serve as a connecUng link between them and their city officer*. The first publlcaUon will be made in the first Issue In July, and will cover the month of June. The Schedule of the Borland Advertising Agency for the resort's advertising Ir the Phllmdelphix newspapers, was Kubmitted and approved. This advertising was started last Sunday. Director Chapman reported progress on the building of the extension to the Inlet Boardwalk, and staled that It would be completed this week. It was concluded to order four car load* of gravel to put all the street ends of the centre secUon of the city . first class condition; to gather up all the sea weeds a»d debris which has washed on the beach south of the Pier: to mow the grass on all streets between the sidewalk and the curb; 10 request of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company that the street crossings south of Italia street be made the full width of the street instead of only sixteen feet as they are now. The matter of re-decklng the balance of the worn portions of the boardwalk Tas brought up, and It was concluded the best plan. In view of the lateness of the season, was to pul the old sections in the best repair possible for the season, and advertise for bids In the fall for redecxlng o' ten square*, (be work to be financed by the Issuance of Improvement certificates.
