WEEK’S HAPPENINGS II

CALLS TOWN UNPROGRESSIVE. To the Editor of the Cape May County Times: In your issue of January 1< there appeared a letter from “< mlsL" and surely there were many truths therein. Sea Isle has the foundation for an I Ideal seaside resort—e.ll the advantages of any other shore city, and the added feature of lie close proximity 1 to Philadelphia—and atill it ceases to grow or keep pace with it* sister resorts. Why 7 Take tiny other place and analyse tbe methods for development which the guardians of tbos* progressive municipalities pursue and • uere will be no "why.'' | Progression is born of cooperation, and in this phase is found the keynote for the upbuilding of any business. Granting this as fact, there seems to be little cooperation in Sea Isle City, especially from the heads of the resort —thie fact being du-monstrated some years ago. as quoted U< the referred-to letter. As an instance of poor business acumen 1 i ter to the cut in the advertising appropriation. Do these guiding 1 hands of Sea Isle think that this method of building up the city is unessential: or do they figure on relying on the vlaiiuts to advertise tbe resort and thus save the money "for other things?” Well, it can t be done, and never has been. Why. I ask again, do not those men who make tbe laws aUbeie to them ? I have not yet aeen tb.- proceedings of a meeting in printed f^nn; and yet it ia a law ! And the lawmaker* themselves passed this bill so that "aii taxpayers could see wha. was going

on."

In another part of the Issue r. ?<-ired to above 1 noticed an article in reference to the propop*d establishment of a fcriillier factory. Ye gods ' I already imagine I can dvttct the odor. But surely Sea Me would not stand for this/and no other resort would even entertain such a proposition. Sea Isle may le dead, but don't exhume it. Rather star all over again and build anew. ^ There acorns to be a "let G.-orr. do it" policy or the "good enough" idea still prevails. Either of these plans i.ev- r ge* anywhere. The "I" has been knocked out of Sea Isle; wno will help put it beck 7 J. F. M.
