DOES NOT WANT BUILDING OR BEACH FRONT Editor Cape May County Times: On x recjtit visit to Ses Isle UHy, 1 noticed thst pilings hsd been drive* down ou Hi* beach on the north side bf the Ooeau Pier. Is It possible that the City will allow •mall buildings to be bmlt on MB ocean aide of the boardwalk? One cannot forget the horrible disfiguring slisutiee thst once linsd the promenade at Atlantic City some years ago, and caused the entire obiileratlof o' the beach and ocean. Snch things should not be tolerated in Sea Isle City, for it can boast ol at besntifrl a beach front ms anj of Uif resorts along the Atlantic Coast. Aiiinseiueiitx are surely needed, but *• there not enough apace tor (hem to be pot up where such places belong lb on the inland tide of the walk? A Sea Isle City Vi*'x>r.

At the mtt-Une of the City Oonimts- * loner i> al the City Hall ou Monday afternoon. Solicitor Cole was directed to make the City part of the suit in-, stituled by beacli front propefly own-1 er* to prevent the Pier Company from building on their land on the Ocean
side of the Boardwalk.
A petition was presented signed by about twenty taxpayers, requesting the City to take action as would prevent any obstruction from being placed on the ocean side of ibe boardwalk, so that a free and unobstructed view of thr ocean may be har* at all times. To this Director Chapman objected, saying ihat he wwuld favor the building of a pier, upon the proper grant by ordinance, but that he did believe that no budding of an objectionable character should be allowed on the
ocean front.
Director Fitch was of the opinion that the City should voice its objection :o any building of xny nature whatever being built on the Ocea- side of the t isrdwalk. except by persons owning the property on the weal side of the boardwalk, and then only when plans were filed with the City show Ing that the building was not of an objectionable nature. In ibis Director Love concurred. Director Pitch adiised the Com nil srloners that a beach-front property owner bad filed an Injunction against the budding, and that a hearing would be held In the Court of Chancery at Camden on Monday next, at ten o'clock is the morning. He felt, he said, thst the City should oe a party to this soil to voles the teotlnr thst io build Inga should be erected unless permlsslcn war granted by the City in the form of an ordinance, upon which the taxpayers could and would be heard. Accoidlngly. Solicitor Cole was directed to consult with Attorney Wool ton,, of Ocean City, employed by the panie* Interested, and to f fervener io make the City part uf the
suit.
(Th^ injunction suit is brough* by Freeholder Theodore E. D.-Bow, who owns a piece uf property affected by the budding now being erected by the Ocean Pier Company, south side of I he, present Pier structure. and in front of ih*- property of Albert Amberg and Mr DeBow). Other Business. Director Chapman reported that the benches now placed along the Hoardwalk in front of Ocean Avenue and where tbe music pavilion stood before It war torn down by (he recent storm wen- merely temporary, and that plan* were being drawn for benches to replace them. Contract for the budding of the square of boardwalk from Loretta to Shell streets was awarded to Harry Muller and Claude Town, of Sea Isle City, for the *um of 1502.40. material to be furnished £>»• the City. The othbidder wia Earl M. Waddingtou. whose bid wa* JS&5.00. Tbe Seventh Annual Report of the Director of Revenu and Finance was read and approved. It is published in this issue, page eight. The report is a model or clearness and is one of tbe most complete reports ever filed in thl» department. Director Love reported. In connection with his staic-ux-ui. that no audit of the city'* book* would be made this year, as the taw requires an audit only oace every two years, and the audits are now very costly. Solicitor Cole, at the request of Mayor Fitch, rend an ordinance which disbands the existing Volunteer Five Com pany. takes over H* equipment, and , j ' jt* place a paid City de-
