Ocean City had a good start, and like a good -test, that is a big help to luccessfa! rosuUs. Yea. Ocean City was a Mg, robust, healthy out-of-doors
baby. Ryglesically pure and free from artificial stimulants. It Jus* gr** There never was such a baby on the South Jersey coast, and everybody was interested in Its die*, and bringing up and there were quite a few who firmly believed that no baby could thrive who wasn’t raised on the bottle. And so ours was quite .a experiment to them But, pshaw, it ne»er even fell the need of s botUe, and naturally it grew jus. so much the faster and sturdier, and. tike the Hebrew children, ban a rosier, nealthler countenance, and monbrawn limn older compeiilurs on the old-time diet. Then, soon the doubtem got w ise to the situation and condud ed the baby was doing fine and had every chaino for a great future. So they, toe, came and helped iu many ways. Still there was enough come: uon over it to develop its moral and physical strength and to establish nil confidence, and today, in the perfec lion of young manhood, it is bigger, healthier and wealthier than some others oli enough to be its father.
Resort Still Young.
Thii ty-eight veers ago the projectors of Ocean City started ou the proposi Uon of making the desert to blossom as the rose. Everyone who views iudelightful development can judge how far success has rewarded the efforts Ocean City’s assessed valuation is now almost ten million dollars, and is made up largely from values in delightful cottage homes such as few other resorts can boast of. It Is par excellence the City of Summer Homes, occupied by their owners, whose chief ambition is to get Ce maximum ot dean enjoyment out of ihe investment. To introduce Ocean City to new friends there are quite a number ol attractive cottages, bung-lows and apartments for rent at very reaeonablirates. In desirable IwcsUone, expert once having nhown that usually one year's renting makes an owner of his own home for the second. As Ocean City wns put on the water

wagon right at the start for a permanency, it has been the great object of Its govemmatu to secure the very finest quality of that liquid, and Ihe artesian flow which supplies its many homes Is the purest, chemically, of any water supply on the coast. Hat Ce.omission Government Ocean City has devclopwl bosit.ess ability In its citizens of a very’ high order, and Its city government demands the very hlgbeat effiiicn-y In every department, and especially iu the public uhJUUee. The result is. the beet lighted city in the State; • sewerage system of the very latest improved order, and perfect di.-poeul
plant.
Like U* progressive slater resoru-. Ocean City has the efficient and mod era Commission form of government, and seldom has a municipality had a
more progressive and energetic trio working for Its welfare as the managers of the cKy. Mayor Joseph G. Champion, now set ring hla second term, la one -of the mo»t active civic workers in Cape May County, and is held in universal esteem. He is a prominent contractor, and conducts one of the resorts largest lumber yards. Director of Finance Campbell U one of the resort’s leading business men. on.i Director Robert Fisher, of the Highway Department, ia a progressive, wide-awake business man. and an able supervisor of the resorts public property. The riaitor will find within the borders of Ocean City about sixty miles of splendid highways, where uutomoblling is a delight, tennis courts of up Update construction, and attractive croquet grounds. The where on
the coast; The Ocean City Yacht Club ia proclaimed the fleest anywhere along the coast; sev'-ral miles of Boardwalk premcnade; rolling chairs, piers, pavilions and ccscort balls; churches of every denomination; pub l^c grammar and high schools: and the freedom and abandon that belong with conditions where Vice is almost unknown. Always Near The Ocean. It ia a peculiarity of Ocean City’s beach that, no matter where your home may be located, there are the some excellent bathing privileges and equal saiety as at any o&er point on the seven tnlleu of ocean front, and ’Jie protected bathing grounds extend the whole distance. The lavish bend with which Nature environed Ocean City maltes, and will ever make for most delightful setting for this Home City rosort. The big sweep of Great Egg Harbor Bay on the West, with the background of ever green pines and tho green aaranaas studded la between, is a revelation of marvelous beauty harmonizing delightfully with the sentiment and policy of Ocean City's moral standard. PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE. Progrenstreneas, Unity and Goodfellowship are the three things mainly responsible for th«- success achieved by the Young Men’s Prozresslve League during the term of ten years that it has been in existence. Many of the municipal improvements that have been decidedly advantageous, toward the present popularity of Ocean City have b«eu instigated, worked out and accomplished by tbit* organization. During thv- World War the efforts of i lie loeague were not allowed to :ax. and it held Its regular weekly .neeilngs each Monday evening, with the though*, uppermost in the minds of even member to Win the War; secondarily, to look after the welfare of the city of which it is a part. When relieved of the problems that con-
fronted it during the war, it started a campaign for new members, with the result that at the close of two months the member*hip ot the organization had been doubled. The membership is now One Hundred and Suventy-flve men, ei^ry one a man, and representative of tha foromoat business men, property owner* *aad voten. of the community. The praeeni yesr bids well to being the gicmtesi in iu history, both trou u civic and social standpoint, and two o( the mor* prominent proj ecu that have originated and are now being cjccessliiio completed by the Young Jdeu's Progressive League are Oceau City Road Signs and the Memorial Tablet to the service men of tho city. Road Signs—The League has secured three hundred road signs, painted to represent sn arrow bearing the words Ocean City, the color effect is maroon and while, these being the colors of the municipality. The signs will be placed all over the State of New Jersey, by enthusiastic Leaguers, whose automobile* will be used for that purpose gratuitously. Large Welcome signs have also been made and .note will be erected at the boulevards and bridges that form the entrances to this beautiful cottage resort. Memorial Tablet—This memorial to the soldiers and sailors is to be erected by popular subscript! ax under the direct supervision of a committee representing the Young Men's Progressive League, whose untiring efforts ere to be commended. The tablet, which is to be elaboate, ha* been ordareu at ■ cost ol approximately three thousand dollars. The League has subscribed one thousand dollars toward the amount. The tablet is to be erected eu the west corner of the City Hal! on Decoration Day, accompanied by ceremonies suitable to the occasion Too much can not be aa'd of tbe enthusiasm and efflek-my displayed oy every committee appointed for a specific purpose, and especially the 'wo mentioned above, whose achievements we are at this time experiencing.
